In August of this year I decided to start my own You Tube channel and I loved the idea of having my very own channel. However, what I didn’t realise was how nervous I would feel in front of a camera. If I had thought about it I might have thought about how nervous I get when standing in front of an audience. To me, when I first turned on the camera I felt the same way I did when I have to make a speech in public.
Thankfully I don’t have to make speeches that often but the ones I have made in the past normally end with my legs and voice shaking so that people notice. Now I know as the kind hearted people you are, you will probably tell me that I don’t look nervous on camera or you will get used to it the more I make the vlogs. To this I say thank you but my nervousness is something I want to overcome and I feel now is the best time for me to do so.
So after much thought and a conversation a long time ago about hypnosis with my cousins, I decided to give it a go. My cousin had recommended that I visit a therapist a friend recommends but I didn’t find anyone. (I would have used my cousin’s therapist but they live in Switzerland so it’s a bit of an expensive commute). Therefore I took to the internet and that’s when I found Mary Bowmer Inner Space Hypnotherapy.
Mary is a registered Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. She is also a certified advanced BWRT® Practitioner. In my first meeting with Mary we discovered we had a lot in common and I felt a connection with her. My cousin had said that’s it good to have a practitioner you can trust and thankfully I felt I could do this with Mary.
The first session Mary talked about the brain and how we have set patterns of behaviour that our brains register before we have even thought about it in the conscious mind. It is these set patterns of behaviour that I wanted to change for the better. At times I feel I can be a very negative person and my brain tends to put the bad stuff in my life on repeat.
Personally, I don’t like my repeat button and as well as my nervousness is a way of thinking I wanted to change. So Mary offered me two options, the first was a traditional method of hypnosis and the second option is the Brain Working Recursive Therapy. (BWRT®). BWRT has been created by a professional therapist, trainer and author named Terence Watts (MCGI) and this therapy has been designed to change the way the brain works.
The reason it is different from many other therapies because the client does not need to spend time talking about their problems. All this new technique does is simply change the way the brain reacts to situations. It does not use any concepts that might be considered unscientific and it’s very practical. For the client to succeed it only needs them to know what they want to change in life.
For the last three years I have been practising meditation and yoga nidra. Yoga Nidra is an ancient form of hypnosis that is designed to help the person using it. To me, BWRT® is like a personalised meditation and Mary had designed it to change my old patterns of behaviour. In the end I had five sessions with Mary and I am feeling more confident and comfortable in my skin. I thoroughly enjoyed our sessions and each time I left I felt like a new woman.
During my sessions with Mary I learned a lot about the brain and how it works. I find this information fascinating as I do believe there is a direct correlation between what we feel and how our bodies work. The better I feel the more able I am to deal with what life throws at me and my body will flow in the same direction.
BWRT® has helped me to change the way I think about situations that happen in my life. At this present moment I can say that I have not found my repeat button again. However, I realise life is a rollercoaster and there are many twists and turns in the road ahead. I’m not saying I’m cured and my life is perfect now, far from it. What I am saying is I now feel better able to cope with situations that may arise in my world. BWRT® has helped me to talk like my adult self while feeling confident, authentic and happy.
