My Three Favourite Hummus Dips!

A Yummy Simple Hummus 1

A Yummy Simple Hummus

Hummus is a great dip at a Christmas party or any party. It’s also a versatile food that can be adapted and changed to suit your tastes. It’s a good snack food and it can be eaten as part of a main meal. We enjoyed a couple of the recipes below at our Christmas party last weekend. So then I thought about where this simple vegetable has come from and how it has arrived at our tables today.

Chickpeas, also known as Garbonzo beans, were first cultivated in 3000 B.C. in the Mediterranean and they have been enjoyed by people all over the world since this time. The humble chickpea’s popularity grew and they spread to India and Africa. The Egyptians, Romans and Greeks all enjoyed eating chickpeas. Of course, explorers spread chickpeas around the world.

Nowadays you can get hummus in most leading supermarkets around the world. Although shop bought hummus is OK, I still prefer to make my own. I always enjoy a delicious hummus on a Saturday afternoon when my husband and son are eating their cheese and pickle sandwiches. Occasionally though, I will make a fresh batch for a party. It’s such a simple dip to make and it’s really easy to eat too. It’s always so well received that I thought I would share with you my three favourites.

Firstly my Yummy Simple Hummus is a plain hummus that is the basis for the other two hummus’. The basic hummus has a velvety texture. I make the hummus nowadays in the Nutribullet as it makes it really smooth and creamy. It’s delicious and this hummus is my go to lunch on a Saturday.

So when I have more time I like to make the other two hummus’. The second hummus I enjoy a lot is my Roasted Red Pepper and Chilli Hummus. This one will require an oven for about 25 – 30 minutes to roast the red pepper in. The red pepper and chilli give the basic hummus a sweetness that adds to the flavour of the hummus. It’s so yummy and can be enjoyed with friends or on your own.

Finally the third one is my Lime, Cumin and Coriander Hummus. The lime, cumin and coriander make the hummus tangy and extra delicious. For me, this has to be my favourite one as I love all three of these ingredients together. All these dips are really good to eat but this final one is my favourite.

Everyone who has been to a party at our house is always impressed with the selection of dips. So if you are having a party this year, then these dips will be worth putting with the party platter. Plus they are all freezable too, so can be made in advance of the party or your Saturday lunch. However you decide to eat these dips, as always, enjoy. What sort of dips do you like to serve at your parties? Do you make your own? I would love to know, so don’t forget to comment below. Please feel free to like and subscribe to this blog too.
